Learning something new ready for your wedding day
I have always been a believer in keeping my style new and fresh, so regular training with top wedding photographers for me is a must. This year before the wedding seasons gets into full swing I spent a day with Brett Harkness at Arley Hall in Cheshire to learn some new techniques to make your wedding photographs extra special.
I have always preferred to use soft natural daylight in my wedding photography but wanted to improve my skills and include the creative use of flash in my photographs. Brett’s enthusiasm and relaxed approach makes learning new ideas and techniques effortless. I really enjoy training where you are encouraged to try new things or to do things in a completely different way to what you normally would. Brett’s training certainly made me leave my comfort zone but there is nothing like the eureka moment when it all makes sense. This training has opened up a whole new world of lighting opportunities for all of my future weddings.
Below are a selection of photographs taken on the day. They are a little more “moody” than my normal style but I am excited to see how some of the techniques learned can take my work to a new level.
Many thanks go to to Zan Atkinson for her wonderful hair and makeup, Nemesis models for our patient models, Novak Bridal for their wedding dresses and Brett Harkness for his advise, guidance and sharing his knowledge.
